Casa Noble in WatchTime Magazine

Tequilas for the Ages
The sublime extra-añejos are the Cognacs of Mexico
Richard Carleton Hacker

"...one of the most labor-intensive extra-añejos is Casa Noble Single Barrel, with its dark chocolate, brown spices, and smoky wood overtones. Triple-distilled and aged for five years in French oak, being a single-barrel bottling, only 300 bottles were produced this year. Indeed, extra-añejo is a tequila whose time has come."

Casa Noble Tequila and Interview with Jose Hermosillo

Casa Noble Tequila is in a class of flavor all its own and we learn why as BourbonBlog.com‘s Tom Fischer interviews Casa Noble Tequila CEO Jose Hermosillo at Tales of the Cocktail 2010 in the video below. We taste the Casa Noble Crystal, Reposado, and Añejo Tequilas.

Tales of the Cocktail Features Casa Noble Tequila

ales of the Cocktail® is an internationally acclaimed festival of cocktails, cuisine, and culture held annually in New Orleans, Louisiana. The event brings together the best and brightest of the cocktail community—award-winning mixologists, authors, bartenders, chefs and designers—for a five-day celebration of the history and artistry of making drinks. Each year offers a spirited series of dinners, demos, tastings, competitions, seminars, book signings, tours and parties all perfectly paired with some of the best cocktails ever made.

Casa Noble was proud to be included with their very own Tequila Tasting Room at the Tales of the Cocktail Festival. On Thursday, July 22, 2010 Casa Noble held an exclusive Journey of the Senses to educate the masters of mixology in The Bonnet Carre Room, of the Hotel Monteleone.

Hosted by the Co-Founder of Casa Noble, Jose Hermosillo, the rich heritage of Casa Noble came to life. Participants learned about the single-estate tequila - from the rich history to the production. The rare experience included sampling sweet cooked agave, feeling the actual limited addition French White Oak Barrels, and training senses to distinguish between the many distinct aromas of the Casa Noble Porfolio. Finally, sampling the exquisite Casa Noble Crystal, Reposado, and Anejo tequilas, how they were meant to be savored.

The journey was topped off with a debut of two specially created USDA Certified Organic cocktails invented by two exclusive mixologists, and members of the USBG.

Five Ways to Celebrate National Tequila Day

Five Ways to Celebrate National Tequila Day

By Richard Goldsmith
Fox News

Casa Noble Crystal – By far one of the most delicious blanco tequilas on the market, Casa Noble is smooth in every sense of the word. The usual green agave notes of a blanco take a back seat to a complex sweetness. There's honey there, with a richness and almost wheat-like body. There's virtually no heat, a rarity for an unaged tequila and a quality that makes it hard to put down. At $40 it's not cheap, but if there's a bottle that'll turn anyone on to tequila, this is it.

Casa Noble - the rich, full-flavored 'green' tequila - Tequila Examiner

Taste is the primary factor in selecting which tequila I want to drink, and Casa Noble stands out in the flavor department. Yes, that’s a USDA Certified Organic tag that hangs from the neck of the beautifully curved, short and square bottle. It reflects Casa Noble's commitment to a high-quality, natural product and also to preserving the environment. The brand is one in only a handful of tequila brands that meet the USDA standards and is going even further in their mission to reduce pollution and conserve soil and water for future generations. With continuing efforts and considerable expense, Casa Noble...  ...is striving to meet even stricter standards of 100% sustainability. On a visit to La Cofradia a few months ago, Casa Noble’s International Tequila Ambassador, David Yan, said they are about 96% complete in meeting this goal.

Casa Noble Crystal (Blanco) Tasting Notes

What a great bouquet! The nose on the blanco ("Crystal") is nicely balanced between vegetal and sweet. After allowing it to breathe it blooms with notes of ripe mango, floral agave, and a subtle chocolate-like scent. Casa Noble is triple-distilled, and therefore very soft upon entry. The agave upstages a mild peppery zip that is not at all astringent. It nibbles but doesn’t bite, allowing an appreciation of this complex, fresh-tasting blanco that’s packed with flavor: agave, citrus, and even a little butter and asparagus. It approaches bitterness but veers toward fruity and floral as it finishes, leaving a baked agave aftertaste.
The Good: Well-balanced nose and body. This is one of the best triple-distilled blancos - it doesn’t smooth out the tequila so much that it completely puts out the fire, nor does it sacrifice flavor.

The Not-so-good: Nothing, a solid A.

Tequila Examiner Grade, Casa Noble Crystal (Blanco): Highest Recommendation (A)

Casa Noble Reposado Tasting Notes

The reposado looks like liquid gold. The smell of rich chocolate competes with the sweetness of baked agave, giving way to a subtle scent of creamy caramel. The smell is a little deceiving, as this still-lively tequila confronts the tongue with an earthy woodiness and herbal agave flavor that guides you toward the complimenting flavors from the barrels, which offers everything from oak, tropical fruit, cocoa, caramel, and just a hint of smoke. There is a nice, warm ending that’s reminiscent of the wonderful bouquet, with lingering flavors of agave, chocolate, and caramel. This tequila is wonderfully consistent and balanced, and an absolute pleasure to sip.
The Good: Wonderfully rich flavors from the barrel that are in harmony with the flavors of the tequila.

The Not-so-good: First sip can be a bit “woody” and confrontational.

Tequila Examiner Grade, Casa Noble Reposado: Highly Recommended (A-)

Casa Noble Añejo and Cocktail Mixing Notes

I recall from my tasting at the distillery that Casa Noble makes a superb añejo, however, the samples sent to me for the purposes of writing these tasting notes included two 50ml bottles of the reposado and no añejo, so there will be no waxing poetic about the añejo – on to the cocktails!
The Crystal makes a wonderful, fresh-tasting margarita with strong complimentary flavors from the tequila. Try any of the mouthwatering Casa Noble cocktail recipes that are over at the Mixoloseum (with daring ingredients like Chartreuse, bitters, and ginger) and expect the tequila to hold its own – about 1.5 to 2 ounces of Crystal in the average-sized cocktail is enough to accent the boldest of ingredients with the flavor of Casa Noble."

Beverage Media - The Price Of Maturity

The Current State of Tequila
Nancy Davidson

"The relatively small, artisanal Casa Noble, imported to the U.S. by Infinium Spirits, has been quite innovative. “We were the first to introduce triple distillation; we were the first to use brand new French white oak; we developed together with CRT the single barrel; we were one of the first to be organic; and we were one of the first to use a cylindrical press. I believe our willingness to go above and beyond to create the best Tequila possible without sacrificing anything is key for Casa Noble,” says Jose Hermosillo (Pepe), chairman."

BoozeBlogger Reviews Casa Noble and gives it Top Scores

"Since we started our tequila week, Ryan and I have tasted a wide variety of different tequilas. After drinking 10-15 different bottles, it became pretty clear that the more expensive spirits stood above the rest. We’ve tried $50-$80 vodkas, and found ourselves liking some of the cheaper vodkas more (like Tito’s), because more often than not, you’re paying for the label on the front of the bottle, rather than the product inside. Long story short, we’ve rarely run into expensive liquor that we thought was truly worth the money.

Until we got our hands on Casa Noble tequila, that is.

You probably haven’t heard of Casa Noble unless you’re already a tequila connoisseur – and that’s okay. Here’s a good primer before we get into our review of their Blanco, Reposado and Anejo varieties of tequila:"

Going south of the border with Stephanie Peck - Las Vegas Sun - By Jack Houston

"Men of the world, look out. Stephanie Peck is one of those bartenders Las Vegas is famous for — attractive and outgoing, with that ace in the hole that has jaws dropping and tongues spilling out like Jim Carrey in The Mask. Peck digs sports..."
"...At night, we still have music and people can dance, but it's a little more relaxed (than McFadden's)," she said. That said, there are still 36 different kinds of tequila, plus mojitos, margaritas, frozen drinks, fish bowls and a menu of light fare should those late-night hunger pangs start creeping in. And best of all? No cover and no line."
"Were they calling us fat when they suggested we shoot the Slim Rita? Nope, it turns out it's one of Pablo McFadden's most popular drinks (nice save) with one-third of the calories of a regular margarita and a low glycemic index (for drinkers looking out for their blood-sugar levels). So that means it's OK to have this mix of Casa Noble Crystal tequila, organic agave nectar and fresh-squeezed lime juice three times as much as you normally would. That is what that means, right?"

Casa Noble hosts a milestone presentation for Diana Kennedy

There is people in this world that will never cease to amaze. Being 84 years old, and driving by yourself around Mexico and the most remote places in Oaxaca is only the begginning. But when you combine all this with photography and writing, it becomes something legendary. Diana Kennedy´s latest book is perhaps the last of her books and definitely, a collection of culinary jewels that reflect the complexity, dedication, raw passion and amazing ingredients of one of Mexican cultures most complex, fascinating gastronomies: Oaxaca.

Worm salt, mole, grasshoppers, worms, dozens of different tortillas, black beans and the widest variety of chiles in Mexico are just some of the ingredients you will read about on this book, “Oaxaca Al gusto”. Not only will you read the recipes but also a description of the rituals, moods and contexts surrounding each recipe. Exceptional pictures of people and their villages (and of course, the dishes) adorn this magnificent piece of work. Casa Noble was part of the presentation of this wonderful book to a select group of friends and Chefs, in the beautiful suroundings of Lake Chapala. Manchego cheese and “ate” were chosen as the perfect companion for our exceptional tequilas, enjoyed by over 40 people that attended this presentation, from place like France, Canada, USA, Belgium, New Zealand and of course Mexico.

BarProfits’ Top Twenty— Best New Vodkas, Rums and Tequilas

By Robert Plotkin

CASA NOBLE SINGLE BARREL REPOSADO TEQUILA Breaking with tradition, all of the Casa Noble tequilas are triple-distilled in alembic stills at the La Cofradia Distillery in the town of Tequila. Limited quantity Casa Noble Reposado is aged 364 days and drawn from a single French White Oak barrel. The tequila strikes a balance between the fresh, spirited character of blanco tequila and the mellow refinement of their limited reserve añejo.
